"Take nothing as ‘perfect’ – continuous improvement and learning is required."
What is your background?
I have 20 years of experience in QA in telecom’s (PSTN, ISDN, V5.1, SS7, IP, GSM). I have worked on a range of projects from mobile apps to web services, and have also enjoyed a reasonable amount of time doing development work in C/C++, HLPLex, Perl, as examples.
What brought you to UKCloud?
What brought me to UKCloud was the advanced technology, exposure and methodology of working. More importantly it seemed like a good fit for my skill set and a place I can both add value and continue my own development.
What work are you excited about?
I’m really excited by my role and all the testing that surrounds it. The projects we work on are exciting and there is always plenty to work on and make a difference to.
What does your day to day look like?
My day to day role is fairly standard with a lot of testing in Docker, Kubernetes. Working with Postgres, doing some scripting and working under agile methodologies.
What is your ambition for you and your team?
Our goal is to ultimately be 100% automated.
What piece of advice would you give someone looking to join UKCloud?
Expect to be working on various tech where you can learn a lot. Although you will have to engage with your colleagues to seamlessly fit in. Take nothing as ‘perfect’ – continuous improvement and learning is required.
