What is your background?
Before joining UKCloud, I was a network engineer at Staffordshire Police doing everything from network support, install’s, Cisco Lab admin, cabling and troubleshooting. Before my current professional career, I worked as a factory worker and kitchen fitter before deciding on a change.
What brought you to UKCloud?
I joined UKCloud in 2014, I was really looking for a new challenge and when my friend approached me with the opportunity it was one I just couldn’t turn down. It’s proved to be a fantastic chance to expand my career experience with new networking technologies in an expanding sector. I have now been with UKCloud for over three years and the amount of change in that period is astonishing.
What work are you excited about?
Being challenged with an interesting variety of projects and technologies, there is always an opportunity to expand my own learning with the support of UKCloud. The best part of working here is working with like-minded individuals whom I consider my friends. It’s a brilliant place to work with great amenities, including scenic walks.
What does your day to day look like?
My day to day varies and over time my role and responsibilities have changed as I have progressed. It varies from reviewing change requests, troubleshooting, mentoring, monitoring and provisioning capacity management. There is also a range of project work going on in the team such as connectivity. I’ve learned a lot in my time at UKCloud and my confidence has continued to grow. It’s a wonderful place to work and a great team to work with.
What piece of advice would you give someone looking to join UKCloud?
Be prepared to get stuck in and support the team as they support you.
