"Take off your headphones and get ready to work in a truly collaborative environment"
What is you background?
I have a varied background covering web development, ruby development, conversion optimisation, as well as managing a software engineering team and being involved in some really exciting projects.
What brought you to UKCloud?
I wanted to continue my career progression in a more advanced technical environment. The languages and tools we use continues to change and the learning never stops. I joined as a Software Engineer and now lead a team.
What work are you excited about?
I’m excited about the pipeline projects, working on new technology and transitioning to a containerised continuous integration & deployment pipeline.
What does your day to day look like?
I work on a range of tasks related to software development. This process starts by picking up a story from the sprint backlog and coding up a solution, which is then refined by collaborating on Bitbucket. The solution then gets built in Bamboo, and I’ll work with another team member to take it through quality assurance using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes. GraphIQL and Postman.
What is your ambition for you and your team?
Our ambition is to achieve a sustainable rate of delivery, where being able to deliver features quickly now doesn’t impact our ability to deliver features quickly in future.
What piece of advice would you give someone looking to join UKCloud?
Take off your headphones and get ready to work in a truly collaborative environment. The office has a great social side too. I’ve been paintballing and scavenger hunting, and last year I put together a charity Rubik’s cube tournament (I came fourth, but at least I beat the Lego robot!).
