The Technical Design Architect – Solution Architect is an integral role within ‘Design’ acting as a senior Design Authority to ensure our approach to new projects and services is fully aligned with our vision and strategy – and that implemented services are successfully handed over to the Platform Operations function
Work within the Office of the CTO (OCTO) and determine strategy and roadmap
Research new vendors, technologies and solutions to validate capabilities and ensure appropriate levels of assurance
Champion new technologies and solutions
Perform technical evaluations and proof of concepts
Consider and incorporate security into all aspects of design
Provide guidance and assistance to members of the Platforms team where required
Defining standards, policy, processes and best practice in collaboration with other architecture teams and design authorities and share/publicise this knowledge
Collaboration with the Platforms team to ensure appropriate levels of knowledge transfer
Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
TOGAF Certified Enterprise & Solution Architect
Solid experience creating high-level solution design and technical architecture documentation
Designing secure architectures in complex multi-technology environments (Private and Public Cloud)
Understanding and experience responding to Bids and the Bid process
Solid experience with analysing customer requirements (RFP, ITT, RFQ and RFIs)
Experience with one, or more, virtualisation technologies (VMware, OpenStack or Azure)
Awareness of core datacentre technologies (Networking, Storage, Servers)
Awareness with cloud provider ecosystems, including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure
Experience with multivendor solutions across a broad portfolio of technologies and products
Working knowledge of interpreting & implementing HMG security policy.
Experience of producing strategy documents and security architecture design documents.
Must have experience of working directly or through a partner UK Public sector specifically within defence and national security
