"Working here continues to be an amazing journey and a chance to work with the latest technologies "
What is your background?
Before working in the IT industry, I used to be a restaurateur in India. Fascinated by computers, I decided to pursue a career in IT after moving to the UK. I got my first IT job as a network analyst before progressing to a service desk engineer in a networking company. I joined UKCloud in 2015 as a Senior Cloud Support Engineer.
What brought you to UKCloud?
Coming from a networking I was looking for an opportunity to learn and work with Datacenter and Cloud technologies. Working here continues to be an amazing journey and a chance to work with the latest technologies.
What work are you excited about now?
My biggest motivator is working with technologies, UKCloud is always expanding its product offering and tech stack and the current Cloud Support team work with over 100 technologies. Currently I’m excited to continue working and learning Openstack, Openshift and other linux based systems. I look forward to progressing into a Cloud Native platform engineer.
What does your day to day look like?
With the variety of technologies, no two days are ever quite the same. a typical day as a senior Cloud Support Engineer focused on working on ticket escalations, troubleshooting VPN’s, Writing network changes, Provisioning Openstack and Openshift environments. Another interesting part of my role is visiting customers which is an exciting opportunity to develop relationships with existing customers and support their ongoing growth with UKCloud. In addition, I get to spend a lot of time with the Cloud Native team which means I’m learning new things every day that I can put into practice.
What piece of advice would you give to someone looking to join UKCloud?
My piece of advice to anyone joining UKCloud is to ask lots of questions. UKCloud has some of the best talent so it’s a great place to learn new technologies and improve your skills. There is plenty of support and training opportunities available for you.
