Transformation Week: Day Three - 14th October

A full overview for all sessions taking place on the first day of Transformation Week. Links to individual sessions are provided below.

Keynote: Secret Cloud - Delivering the Highest Levels of Integrity for Critical Systems

Time: 10:00 - 11:00

Synopsis: Join Bart Challis, UKCloudX Product Manager, for an insight into designing and building the UK’s first and only true cloud at Above OFFICIAL; looking at the founding principles behind the most ambitious project to-date at UKCloudX, how we addressed the challenges to remain loyal to the true-cloud model whilst offering uncompromising security and assurance. The session will close with what Cloud at Secret means for the UK’s Defence & National Security strategy, now and in the future.

Securing the post quantum world

Time: 11:00 - 12:00

Synopsis: “If you think you understand quantum physics, you don’t understand quantum physics”. Join Neil Fagan, CTO National Security at CISCO, as he kicks off with an ‘easy to understand’ introduction to quantum computing, how it is evolving at pace and the critical challenges that are being addressed. Neil will also explore some of the considerations of maintaining a security posture within this revolutionary technical architecture.

CONTAINER PIPELINE SECURITY: LOOKING HIGH AND LOW

Time: 13:00 – 14:00

Synopsis: ‘Developing low’ through off-site and distributed working and ‘running high’ increased exponentially during the pandemic presenting significant opportunities and benefits that are likely to permanently change the way we work in the future. But this dramatic change is not without its risks. Join Matt Colman, Security Architect, IBM and Adrian Keward, Technical Architect, RedHat as they explore approaches to enhancing the integrity and confidentiality of containers created low-side and how this manifests itself in confidence high-side.

Innovation and Security: How to do both

Time: 14:00 – 15:00

Synopsis: Rapid experimentation, exploiting cloud, open source, containerisation and other concepts, bring challenges when the outputs are headed for highly secure environments. Join Tim Watts, Co-founder and Exec Director at SiXworks as he discusses the SiXworks approach to secure-by-design proofs of concept and related analysis for government.

Chip-based quantum security technologies

Time: 15:00 – 16:00

Synopsis: The key commercial and technical integration enabler for quantum-safe communications are chip-based quantum security technologies. Join Chris Erven, CEO & Co-founder of KETS Quantum, as he discusses how quantum security technologies work, what they look like and how to use them.
