Purpose of Role:

To coordinate connected projects and programmes and drive the realisation of Customer and business value from them. The Programme Manager will work to make sure that delivery teams are engaged with the outcomes needed and are unimpeded and enabled to proceed, while providing exceptional visibility to stakeholders about progress and delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, engage and motivate a team of Agile Delivery Managers to enable delivery teams to be their best

Lead our Agile Project Management Office. Maintain and improve our project and programme delivery, covering our processes (initiation through to wrap up), reporting/visibility and methods. Maintain an appropriate issues and risks register and act with energy to solve impediments in our way

Support business teams with the prioritisation of projects and programmes as part of our quarterly planning activities. For example, the identification of key features and benefits to be delivered, minimal viable product and subsequent value add increments.

Provide guidance, coaching and support to members of the business to allow them to act as an effective Product Owners

Work directly with Agile project teams when required; this may include taking a direct role within a project team. For example, the preparation of requirements, user stories and other artefacts necessary to allow an Agile project team to deliver

Take a lead in the continued adoption and maturity of our agile practices, for example Scrum, Kanban and XP. Mature the engagement with customers to improve fitness-for-purpose

Maintain procedural and audit-readiness of the function including policies, processes and education

Skills and Experience:

  • Commercially minded with an excellent knowledge of UKCloud products and changing customer needs
  • Gravitas, drive and the ability to motivate and coach colleagues to achieve results. Able to influence and guide others to make changes and take action without direct line authority
  • Self-organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Business analysis, specifically in relation to identification of business value and priorities. Will be able to create relevant artefacts such as business process diagrams, use cases, acceptance criteria, test cases and user stories. Identification and classification of Non Function Requirements.
  • Will have successfully delivered Software/Infrastructure technology programmes/projects, £2 million+
  • Will have led/worked with an Agile Project Management Office. Will be able to identify and implement strategies for the management and delivery of Agile Programmes.
  • Implementation and/or experience of maturing agile implementations
  • Agile certification or equivalent experience (ideally certified in Scrum, SAFe or other framework)

Desirable

  • Good level of technical experience and able to easily converse with highly technical engineers, Customers, partners and vendors
  • Exposure to NIST-aligned Cloud products, i.e. IAAS, SAAS or PAAS
  • Will have held senior management posts and able to make clear and reasoned decisions; ability to take calculated risks.
