UKCloud’s Infrastructure team are responsible for the design and operation of our leading Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) Cloud Computing Platforms and we have new opportunities for talented infrastructure engineers who are driven to join a fast moving cloud company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as technical design input to the UKCloud’s Computing Platform supporting Product Management and Service Operations to ensure its functionality, availability, performance and security.
- Determine standards and supporting documentation for design, configuration, monitoring, management and on-going support.
- Ensure the effective capacity management of the UKCloud’s Cloud Platform so that services are delivered in the most cost efficient way.
- Perform and oversee the evaluation and implementation of new or updated technology components with the UKCloud’s Alliance Partners, to ensure the robust product lifecycle management including the delivery of new functionality, capacity, releases and service packs.
- Escalation point to Operations for 4th line support and solutions delivery on client deployment projects.
Skills/Experience:
- VMware or EMC Certified Professional
- Strong problem solving experience
- Experience with Big Data products such as Hadoop, Elastic Search
- Experience with backup technologies in cloud-based environments; EMC Avamar.
- Experience with PaaS tools such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk
- Experienced scripting; Python, Ruby PowerShell
- Excellent Linux administration
- Experience with REST APIs
- Experience coding with Agile methodologies
- Experience designing, deploying and operating VCE Vblocks or UCS Servers
- Experienced in provisioning, orchestration and automation of cloud-based environments.
- Experience in ITIL, PRINCE2 and ISO 9001/27001/20000 based work environments.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Cloud Computing – IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
- Excellent planning, communication and presentation skills
- Disciplined, organised and self-motivated
