Summary
UKCloud’s Agile Delivery Managers are delivery-oriented leaders engaged in one or more projects, interfacing with Product Owners, technical engineering teams, Customers and other stakeholders. As an Agile Delivery Manager, you will listen, understand and take meaningful action in the heartland of our project and delivery teams helping us to better our performance, quality and methods. You’ll bring energy, motivation, organisation, adaptability and creativity to your role and be adept at communicating to all stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Agile Product Owner to facilitate the successful end-to-end delivery of projects from vision/inception
- Colloborate with Agile Product Owner to ensure a proactive engagement with project stakeholders, including Customers, business, technology, networking and operations specialists.
- Facilitate effective working of delivery team(s) resourced by cross-functional staff
- Take meaningful direct action and responsibility where it is beneficial, including (not limited to) being Scrum Master, supporting story creation, backlog refinement, knowledge transfer and process improvement
- Create and track delivery/iteration plans and dependencies to enable teams and Product Owners to make effective decisions
- Track Acceptance Criteria and “Definition of Done” to smooth and accelerate readiness-for-service / transition to BAU
- Act to manage constraints and risks, keeping delivery teams organised and free to focus on commitments
- Coach, mentor and train staff (in and out of team) in practices to improve delivery quality and velocity.
- Be an ambassador for modern agile practices and act on opportunities to better tools, processes and procedures to improve project team performance and our Customer experience wherever possible
- Be responsible for the accuracy and content in project Confluence and JIRA sites, including project status reporting, in line with Programme & Project governance
- Actively build, maintain and manage relationships with Customers, partners and suppliers
Skills/Experience
Essential
- To have successfully operated in a variety of roles across the lifecycle with emphasis on project management and/or delivery lead roles in large scale software or infrastructure delivery
- Able to speak confidently to any level of stakeholder about the detail of the projects in flight. Includes the ability to discuss software/hardware architectures as well as the design, delivery and project approaches.
- Leadership of diverse/cross-functional teams, sometimes off-site / differing locations
- Strong experience of Agile/Scrum methods in single and multiple (Scrum-of-Scrums) settings
- Exposure to the full delivery development lifecycle including architecture, design, testing and delivery through to operational/BAU teams
- Experience working with and prioritising demands of a range of stakeholders at differing levels of seniority
- Improving processes and methods within teams or beyond, for example identifying and coaching process/method development
- Able to influence and guide others to make changes and take action without direct line authority
Desirable
- Good understanding of product development practices to interpret and drive the highest value outcomes
- Exposure to Cloud-based products, IAAS, SAAS or PAAS
- Exposure to modern deployment techniques (CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, containers)
- A technical background in software development, IT Infrastructure, System Administration and have carried out successful “project recovery” of failing projects
