We are looking for an engineer to join our 24/7 infrastructure monitoring team.
You will be comfortable to perform second pass problem determination and troubleshoot incidents, whilst making and acting on your recommendations for improvement.
Working as a wider team, you'll maintain handover logs, ticket updates, reporting and ensure a good transition between each shift.
This role works on a shift pattern that includes Day, Night, Weekend and Bank Holiday working. You will also be required to be part of an informal standby rota. A shift allowance is applicable.
Essential skills
Good OS skills for Linux and Windows
Working Knowledge of Routing and Switching
Solid analytical problem-solving skills
Good team working and communication skills
Disciplined, organised and self-motivated
Desirable skills
Working knowledge of VMware (vSphere, vCloud, NSX)
Working knowledge of network technologies (Cisco products and CLI, routing and switching, ASA/Firewall, VPN)
Working knowledge of compute and storage hardware (Rack and Blade servers, SAN)
Experience using APIs
Experience working with monitoring tools and systems
Knowledge of scripting languages (Python and PowerShell)
Knowledge of virtualisation platforms
Experience of alert and event management in a 24/7 environment, supporting business-critical services
Experience with helpdesk tools within an ITIL environment
